The Power of Surrender
Letting go of your own way and yielding fully to the Father.
There is a place in God that cannot be reached through our own strength, our own wisdom, or our own desires.
It is reached through surrender.
Many desire the promises of God, the blessings of God, and the power of God , but the true walk with Christ begins when we are willing to lay ourselves down before Him.
Jesus said:
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
— Luke 9:23
Surrender is not a one-time moment. It is a daily sacrifice. Every day we must choose: Will my flesh lead me, or will the Spirit of God lead me?
The flesh desires its own way. It seeks comfort, pride, control, attention, and things that are contrary to the heart of God.
The Bible says:
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
— Jeremiah 17:9
This is why we cannot build our lives according to our feelings alone. The flesh without God will lead us away from Him. It will desire things that satisfy for a moment but cannot produce eternal life.
The flesh cannot glory in the presence of God.
When we truly surrender, we come before the Father and say:
“Not my will, but Yours be done.”
We surrender our plans.
We surrender our desires.
We surrender our pride.
We surrender our old ways.
We surrender everything that keeps us from becoming who God created us to be.
This is where transformation begins.
The surrendered life is where God shapes us. He removes what does not look like Him and produces His character within us.
When we decrease, He increases.
When we surrender, our ears become more sensitive to His voice. Our hearts become more aligned with His will. We begin to know Him in ways we never knew before.
There are dimensions of God, wisdom from God, and encounters with His presence that are found in the place of surrender.
A surrendered heart says:
“Lord, change me.”
“Lord, lead me.”
“Lord, correct me.”
“Lord, make me more like You.”
In these times, we must understand that God is looking for vessels who are fully yielded to Him. Not people who only seek His hand, but people who desire His heart.
The world teaches us to follow ourselves.
Jesus teaches us to deny ourselves.
True freedom is not found in doing whatever the flesh desires. True freedom is found when we are no longer controlled by the things that kept us bound.
Surrender is where the old man dies and the new life in Christ begins.
Lay it down.
Let Him lead.
Trust His way.
Because when you finally surrender everything to God, you discover that what He gives you is greater than anything you were trying to hold onto.
There is power in surrender.
